Summary:
Founded in 1909, the NAACP is the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization. The NAACP Empowerment Programs, Inc. (“NAACP EPI”), the 501c(3) programs arm of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (“NAACP”), a nonprofit, membership-based, civil rights advocacy organization, seeks a well-rounded and ambitious intern.
The NAACP Hollywood Bureau Summer Internship Program is a ten (10) week paid internship program for undergraduate students who will work five (5) days a week with Hollywood Bureau staff and will assist with the planning and managing of Bureau events for the Annual Convention.
The in-person internship program is in Los Angeles, CA from May 26th through July 31st, 2026. Travel to and from Los Angeles and housing while in Los Angeles is the responsibility of the intern. Travel to and from Chicago, IL and housing for the Annual Convention will be provided by the NAACP.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Reporting to the Director of Talent and Media Relations, responsibilities of the NAACP Hollywood Bureau/FedEx Summer PR/Communications Intern include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Monitor media coverage of entertainment issues of diversity and inclusion.
- Attend meetings as assigned.
- Assist in writing articles/posts for the Bureau’s newsletter, social media and outreach materials.
- Help to coordinate and produce Hollywood Bureau Convention events
- Occasional administrative work.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate for this position will possess many, if not all, of the following professional qualifications, competencies and personal qualities:
- Is currently enrolled in an accredited university/college program.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to operate confidentiality.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and demonstrate a high degree of initiative.
- Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and working knowledge SharePoint.
