As the Process Manager of Lending Operations, you will be the principal individual contributor driving strategic direction, highly complex process re-design, and risk mitigation for Varo’s growing business operations. You are a trusted expert comfortable operating at the intersection of business strategy, continuous improvement, and execution. You will be responsible for leading deep-dive analysis and translating complex data into organization-wide strategies that significantly drive operational efficiency, profitability, and scalability across all aspects of Varo Bank’s operational ecosystem (including our loan servicing workflows).ABOUT THE LENDING OPERATIONS TEAMWe’re the people that enable the lending business to grow at scale. The primary focuses for the team include credit reporting, where we provide accurate and timely information to the credit bureaus and resolve disputes. We also focus on payment troubleshooting, implementing both short-term fixes and long-term solutions when system issues prevent customer payments from getting applied correctly. Additionally, our work in collections involves partnering with third-parties to help customers get back on track and continue their banking relationship with Varo. Finally, through analytics, we track the effectiveness of our collection efforts and make adjustments based on our analysis.What you'll be doingServe as the principal subject matter expert (SME) and final escalation point for the most complex and highest-risk Lending Operations workflows, providing guidance and direction to other team membersOwn the strategic roadmap and end-to-end performance of mission-critical operational processes, including defining, monitoring, and optimizing organization-wide SLAs and quality assurance metrics to ensure long-term efficiency and scalabilityProactively identify and lead the design and implementation of internal controls and procedure documentation to mitigate significant operating and regulatory risk, ensuring proactive compliance with regulations (e.g., Reg Z, Fair Credit Reporting Act)Spearhead and direct complex, cross-functional initiatives with Product, Engineering, and Risk teams to fully automate and fundamentally re-design core lending processes, managing stakeholder alignmentMentor and coach junior team members on best practices in lending operations, advanced analytics, and regulatory interpretation, setting the bar for operational excellenceYou'll bring the following required skills and experiences5+ years of progressive experience in operations management, process engineering, or financial services operations.A proven track record of leading successful, end-to-end operational process re-design and implementation with measurable impact.Proven ability to interpret and translate complex business or regulatory requirements into scalable, compliant operational procedures and automated controls.Expert analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to leverage advanced data modeling and complex query techniques (e.g., SQL) to identify process bottlenecks, drive strategic decision-making, and quantify organizational impact.Proven ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional leadership to drive process adoption and change management without direct reporting authority.Executive-level presentation and advanced writing skills, with experience developing and presenting strategic optimization proposals to senior leadership.Knowledge of key lending regulations (e.g., Reg Z, FCRA) and loan servicing operations is a plusCDIA certification is a plusVaro is an equal opportunity employer.
