The Position
This is a part time position reporting to the Middle School Head. The Boulder Country Day Middle School Spanish Teacher teaches Spanish in grades 6-8 following an inquiry based approach. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Teach 3 sections of Middle School Spanish (1 of 6th, 1 of 7th, 1 of 8th)
- Collaborate with middle school faculty, learning specialists, and division head to build, review, and revise meaningful and engaging curriculum
- Participate in ongoing training and weekly faculty meetings
- Support enrollment and retention by assisting with tours, events, and other school outreach
- Perform other duties as directed by the Middle School Head and Head of School
- Attend weekly employee meetings Wednesdays until 4:30pm
Hours and Pay
- BCD’s part time Middle School Spanish Teacher will work Mon, Tues, Thurs and Friday 9:45 - 2:45 , Weds until 4:30
- Salary Range is $36,000 to $57,000
- This is an exempt position with part time benefits:
- 10 paid holidays
- Wellness Stipend – up to $100 on wellness items such as fitness classes, fitness equipment, fitness electronics, massage, chiropractic services, etc.
- School closures Thanksgiving break, winter break, spring break
- Sick time – 1 hour of accrued sick leave per 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year
- Bereavement leave – up to 5 days for immediate family and 3 days for near relatives
- Retirement, 403(B) pre-tax plan with TIAA – eligible when you reach 1,000 hours of service and BCD matches up to 5% of base pay
- Child(ren) benefits:
- Tuition support – with tuition reduction based on hours worked for enrolled child(ren) during the school year
- Childcare support “After 3” – cost reduction for enrolled child(ren) during the school year
- Summer camp support – cost reduction for child(ren) enrolled in summer camp

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:
- Fluent Spanish speaker
- Bachelor’s in Spanish education, Master’s preferred
- Education in or exposure to Developmental Designs for Middle School or Responsive Classroom for Middle School
- Experience teaching in grades 6-8
- Demonstrated love for working with middle school students
- Experience working in an IB setting
- Keen interest in experiential learning
- Knowledge of or background in independent schools
- Desire to teach in an innovative technology rich 1:1 learning environment
- Ability to differentiate within each class
- Flexibility, ability to work with change, and strengths in innovation
- Effective communication skills.
