Description:

Summary:

The Electronics Technician is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electronic components and systems used in production, research, and service. The role supports engineers and production teams by ensuring all equipment operates efficiently and meets quality standards.

Working Conditions

Movement

This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office and on the production floor. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

Operate/Use

Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e. copier, printer, calculator)

Ascend/Descend

Rarely ascends/descends stairs to reach archived files

Communicate

This position frequently communicates with co-workers, managers, supervisors, and customers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Transport

This position frequently lifts or moves 25 pounds, occasionally moves up to 50 pounds for various needs.

Work Environment

Relatively quiet but fast paced.

Travel

Rarely may need to travel to customers and vendors, with very minimal overnight stays, may be required.

Job Specific Competencies:

1. Engineering

a. Document test results, service records, and repair logs accurately.

b. Perform preventive maintenance to ensure reliability and minimize downtown.

c. Assemble and modify prototypes or electronic units based on engineering instructions and best practices.

d. Read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.

e. Diagnose and troubleshoot system failures, component malfunctions, and wiring issues.

f. Test and calibrate electronic circuits, instruments, and components using appropriate testing equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, etc.)

g. Install, maintain, and repair electronic systems, devices, and equipment.

2. Service Coordination

a. Monitor service orders, work logs, and repair documentation for accuracy and completeness.

b. Act as point of contact between customers, service technicians, and management.

c. Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and gather feedback.

3. Collaboration

a. Coordinate with engineers and other team members to improve equipment design and system performance.

b. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

c. Ensure compliance with safety standards, ESD practices, and company quality procedures.

Minimum Qualifications and Education

· Associate’s degree or equivalent in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field

· 2+ years of experience in service coordination, warranty administration, or customer support.

· IPC, ETA or similar certifications are a plus.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).

· Must be able to use hand tools, digital multimeter, O-scope, and Soldering station.

· Must be able to Solder/desolder (extremely small parts (0805) is a plus).

· Must be able to read schematics and troubleshoot to component level.
