The Role
As a Senior Product Designer at Stukent, you'll be a key contributor to shaping how students and instructors experience our platform. You'll work closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to lead design from early discovery through to polished delivery, bringing clarity to complex problems and crafting experiences that are both beautiful and functional.
How We Work
Stukent's Product Technology organization is composed of multiple highly-empowered teams. Each team operates with its own Product Manager, Product Designer, and Software Engineers. Designers have real ownership and a direct seat at the table alongside engineering and product from day one. We follow agile methodology, with tight feedback loops and collaborative sprint cycles.
This role reports to the Director of Product Design. Our design team is actively working to converge our product surfaces into a unified design system. There is a meaningful foundation in place, and this role will play a significant part in shaping and maturing that system going forward.
What You'll Do
- Own the end-to-end design process, from research, user flows, and wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes and production-ready specs.
- Partner closely with product managers and engineers throughout discovery and delivery to ensure design intent is realized in the final product.
- Contribute to and help evolve Stukent's design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, and accessibility across all product surfaces.
- Design for Accessibility from the start, championing inclusive design and aligning all work to WCAG standards.
- Communicate design rationale clearly to cross-functional stakeholders, and confidently advocate for user needs in product discussions.
- Identify UX debt and systemic design opportunities, and help prioritize and address them strategically.
- Mentor and provide thoughtful feedback to other designers on the team, helping to raise the overall quality of design work.
- Balance speed with craft, knowing when to move fast and when to slow down and get it right.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a Product Design, UX Design, or equivalent role.
- Proven ability to work autonomously across the full design lifecycle, from research to implementation.
- Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including components, variables, and maintaining design system consistency.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating complex problem-solving, clean visual design skills, and measurable business and user impact.
- Solid working knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and a track record of creating inclusive, compliant product experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience designing for educational platforms, learning management systems, or other learning-focused products.
- Strong handle on web application development, including HTML and CSS fundamentals. Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks is a plus.
- Familiarity with token-based design systems and how they translate to front-end implementation.
- Experience building or significantly contributing to a design system from early stages.
