About This Position

The Club at Crazy Mountain Ranch is a private membership experience set on 18,000 extraordinary acres in the state of Montana. Take one part working ranch, combine with golf, lodging, great food, and drink plus everything else there is to see and do and you’ve got something beyond special. Crazy Mountain Ranch Fire (CMRF) is seeking highly skilled and experienced Firefighter-Paramedics (FireMedics) to join our professional Ranch Fire team working a 48/96.

This is a unique opportunity to serve in a remote, high-expectation environment, providing both advanced life support (ALS) medical care and structural/wildland fire response for a premier private community.

Position Overview

FireMedics at CMRF are expected to operate at a high level of autonomy and professionalism. Personnel will be responsible for leading emergency medical responses and supporting fire suppression operations with minimal supervision.

This position is ideal for experienced providers who are confident in independent decision-making, scene leadership, and delivering high-quality care in dynamic and high-stress environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced life support (ALS) care in emergency and non-emergency situations
  • Lead and manage medical incidents from initial response through patient transfer
  • Participate in structural and wildland fire suppression operations
  • Maintain operational readiness of apparatus, equipment, and medical supplies
  • Operate within established protocols, standing orders, and medical direction
  • Collaborate with ranch staff, security, and mutual aid agencies when required
  • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and patient care

Minimum Qualifications

  • National Registry Paramedic (NRP) and/or Montana State Paramedic License or ability to obtain reciprocity
  • Firefighter I & II Pro Board Certifications
  • Minimum of 3 years paramedic experience in a high-volume municipal EMS system
  • AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in rural or remote EMS/fire operations
  • Wildland fire certifications (S-130/S-190, Red Card)
  • Incident Command System (ICS/NIMS) training
  • Demonstrated leadership experience on emergency scenes

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Remote, private ranch setting with a high standard of service
  • Fast-paced, unpredictable emergency response environment
  • Ability to perform under pressure with minimal oversight
  • Strong emphasis on initiative, accountability, and operational readiness
  • Daily duties related to Fire/EMS and ranch operations.
  • Team members will assist with select ranch operations, including watering remote livestock, preparing fireplaces and fire pits, maintaining firewood supplies, accompanying members on guided hiking excursions, and supporting special event setup and breakdown.

Physical Demands – Ranch Fire & EMS Operations

The physical demands described herein are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position in a remote ranch fire and emergency medical services environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

  • Personnel must be capable of performing physically demanding tasks in dynamic and often austere conditions. This includes the frequent lifting, carrying, and moving of equipment and patients weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds or more, including during patient extrication, fire suppression activities, and equipment deployment across varied terrain.
  • Personnel are routinely required to use hands and fingers for handling tools, medical equipment, hose lines, and other apparatus. The role involves prolonged periods of standing and walking, hiking as well as frequent climbing, balancing, and navigating uneven, remote, or rugged terrain. Employees must be able to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and reach as required during fire suppression, rescue operations, and medical care delivery.
  • This position regularly involves work in outdoor environments and exposure to weather extremes, smoke, heat, and other environmental hazards consistent with fire and emergency medical operations on a working ranch
