About This Position
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for leading all outbound shipping operations at Star, ensuring accurate, on-time delivery of finished products to customers and distribution partners. This role oversees order fulfillment, staging, packing, and shipping processes while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
This leader is critical to delivering on customer expectations and protecting Star’s reputation through flawless execution.
Shipping Operations
- Lead daily outbound operations including order picking, packing, staging, and loading
- Ensure all customer orders are shipped accurately and on time
- Coordinate daily shipping schedules with Customer Service and Production
- Manage carrier pickups (LTL, parcel, full truckload) and ensure proper documentation
- Verify correct packaging, labeling, and shipment documentation
Operations Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the warehouse, including receiving, storing, and shipping products.
- Ensure efficient use of warehouse space and resources.
- Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor and manage warehouse equipment and supplies.
Order Accuracy & Quality
- Drive high levels of order picking and shipping accuracy
- Ensure proper product handling to prevent damage in transit
- Implement checks to eliminate shipping errors (wrong item, quantity, labeling)
- Resolve shipping discrepancies, claims, and customer issues quickly
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise and develop shipping team (typically 8–20 employees)
- Set daily expectations and hold team accountable to performance standards
- Train employees on shipping processes, systems, and safety procedures
- Foster a culture of urgency, accountability, and teamwork
Inventory & Staging Control
- Maintain organized and accurate finished goods staging areas
- Ensure proper FIFO practices and product rotation where applicable
- Partner with Production to ensure timely movement of finished goods to shipping
- Support cycle counts and inventory accuracy related to finished goods
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety protocols for loading docks, forklifts, and material handling
- Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and company policies
- Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready shipping area
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement improvements in shipping flow, layout, and processes
- Reduce shipping errors, damages, and delays
- Optimize labor efficiency and dock utilization
Reporting and Analysis:
- Generate regular reports on warehouse performance, including productivity, inventory accuracy, and shipping/receiving metrics.
- Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Provide reports and updates to senior management as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as a Warehouse Supervisor or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and best practices.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficient in warehouse management software (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Ability to work in varying temperature conditions.
Working conditions
- The role may require occasional evening and weekend work.
- The warehouse environment may be noisy and require the use of safety equipment.
