About the Role:

The Sous Chef plays a critical role in supporting the Executive Chef and Head Chef in the daily operations of a fine dining kitchen within the accommodation and food services industry. This position is responsible for overseeing food preparation, ensuring that menu plans and recipes are executed to the highest standards, and maintaining consistency in quality and presentation. The Sous Chef will also contribute to menu development by incorporating innovative ideas and pricing strategies that align with ecommerce trends and customer expectations. Additionally, this role involves managing delivery logistics to ensure timely and efficient service, enhancing the overall guest experience. Ultimately, the Sous Chef ensures smooth kitchen operations, fosters a collaborative team environment, and upholds the establishment’s reputation for excellence in cuisine and service.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a fine dining or upscale food service environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, menu planning, and recipe development.
  • Experience with ecommerce pricing strategies and delivery management in a food service context.
  • Ability to lead and motivate kitchen staff effectively.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in the food industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Culinary degree or certification from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working alongside Executive Chefs and Head Chefs in high-volume kitchens.
  • Proficiency with kitchen management software and inventory control systems.
  • Knowledge of current trends in fine dining and customer preferences.
  • Experience in vendor negotiation and supply chain management.

  • Manage kitchen staff schedules, training, and performance to maintain a high-functioning team.
  • Coordinate delivery management to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations within the kitchen.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source quality ingredients at optimal costs.
  • Monitor inventory levels and control food costs to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
