This role is a senior-level tax leadership position responsible for overseeing end-to-end tax compliance, reporting, and strategic tax planning within a complex, regulated environment. You will lead critical processes including income tax provision under GAAP and statutory accounting standards, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance across all filings. Acting as a key partner to finance and business leadership, you will influence tax strategy, optimize processes, and support data-driven decision-making. The position requires strong technical expertise in tax accounting combined with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and external advisors. You will also play a key role in modernizing tax operations through automation and technology adoption. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape tax strategy while ensuring compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
- Lead the quarterly and annual income tax provision processes under GAAP and statutory accounting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with reporting standards
- Oversee preparation, review, and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns and estimates for corporate and insurance entities, coordinating with external advisors
- Manage tax accounting integrity by leveraging systems, automation tools, and collaboration with finance transformation and external vendors
- Handle tax audits, regulatory inquiries, and correspondence with internal and external stakeholders in a timely and compliant manner
- Ensure compliance with indirect tax requirements while supporting broader organizational tax obligations
- Develop tax forecasts, models, and analytical insights to support strategic planning and business decision-making
- Partner with finance and business leaders to identify tax risks, opportunities, and optimization strategies
- Stay current on regulatory and insurance tax developments and assess their impact on the organization
- Support the design and execution of tax planning initiatives and process automation efforts
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent professional experience (4+ years commensurate experience accepted)
- 7+ years of tax experience, ideally in public accounting and/or corporate tax within a complex organization
- Strong technical knowledge of ASC 740 and U.S. federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Experience interpreting and applying tax code and regulatory guidance in practical business contexts
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams or tax professionals
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large datasets and build financial or tax models
- Experience in tax compliance systems, reporting tools, and automation solutions
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings to executive stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, audits, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- CPA and/or Master’s in Taxation preferred
- Experience with insurance tax, SSAP 101 reporting, and state nexus considerations is a plus
- Competitive base salary range: $162,453 – $213,220 annually
