Job Description

Head of GEO

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Head of GEO in Spain.

This is a senior strategic leadership role at the intersection of search, AI, and growth, responsible for defining how a fast-scaling global organization wins visibility in the new era of generative discovery. As AI-powered search, LLMs, and conversational interfaces redefine how users find and evaluate information, you will own the transformation of organic acquisition into a GEO-first strategy. You will lead the end-to-end vision for generative engine optimization, ensuring the brand becomes highly visible, frequently cited, and trusted across emerging AI-driven search ecosystems. Operating at executive level, you will collaborate across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Growth to embed GEO into the core of the go-to-market strategy. This is a high-impact role for a builder who can define new categories, not just optimize existing ones. You will shape both strategy and execution frameworks in a fast-moving, innovation-driven environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Own and define the global GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) strategy as a core acquisition and brand authority channel.
  • Establish channel vision, OKRs, measurement frameworks, and executive-level reporting on GEO performance and impact.
  • Lead prioritization of GEO initiatives, including roadmap planning and budget allocation.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to influence site architecture, structured data, indexing strategies, and AI discoverability.
  • Drive alignment with Sales and Revenue teams to connect GEO efforts with pipeline generation and revenue outcomes.
  • Build and scale AI-driven automation workflows for content, optimization, and distribution across generative ecosystems.
  • Integrate GEO strategy across all marketing functions, ensuring alignment with brand, content, and performance initiatives.
  • Strengthen and scale traditional SEO foundations while evolving them into AI-first discovery strategies.
  • Serve as internal expert on AI search evolution, educating stakeholders and translating insights into actionable strategy.
  • Build analytics and reporting systems to track visibility, citations, and performance across generative engines.
  • Lead experimentation with AI search platforms, tools, and emerging discovery channels.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in SEO, organic growth, or AI search optimization, with at least 3 years in a leadership or ownership role.
  • Proven experience owning and scaling a search or organic growth channel at strategic level.
  • Demonstrated success in GEO, programmatic SEO, or AI-driven content and automation systems.
  • Deep understanding of how LLMs retrieve, process, and cite information in generative search environments.
  • Strong experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales teams.
  • Ability to influence technical roadmaps and drive execution without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience defining KPIs, dashboards, and performance measurement frameworks.
  • Excellent executive communication skills with the ability to translate complex topics into clear strategic narratives.
  • Comfort working in high-ambiguity, fast-changing environments with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
  • Bonus: experience with structured data, technical SEO, AI agents, automation workflows, or prior P&L responsibility.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote-friendly role with flexibility, with preference for candidates in or relocating to Barcelona.
  • 25 days of paid vacation plus reduced summer working schedule.
  • Comprehensive health insurance including dental, travel coverage, and pre-existing condition support.
  • Monthly meal allowance and additional flexible benefits for food expenses.
  • Transportation and home-office setup allowances to support remote productivity.
  • Free Spanish language classes.
  • Referral bonus program with financial rewards.
  • Regular team events, social activities, and international company culture.
  • Inclusive, diverse workplace with 60+ nationalities and strong focus on belonging and collaboration.
