Senior Microsoft Teams Telephony Engineer at RedMatter Solutions LLC – Aldie, Virginia
About This Position
We are seeking a technically experienced and solutions-driven Senior Microsoft Teams Telephony Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and operational support of Microsoft Teams Voice solutions in a secure, enterprise environment. This role is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of Teams Phone services, including Direct Routing, Operator Connect, and Session Border Controllers (SBCs), with a strong focus on AudioCodes Mediant platforms.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience in enterprise telephony, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to operate in highly available, mission-critical environments. This position partners closely with network, security, and operations teams to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable voice services
Responsibilities include:
- Design, deploy, and operate Microsoft Teams Voice solutions using Direct Routing and Operator Connect
- Configure, manage, and maintain AudioCodes Mediant Session Border Controllers (SBCs)
- Build and maintain enterprise dial plans, call routing policies, and number management services
- Implement and support Teams Voice features, including e911, call queues, auto-attendants, voicemail, and resource accounts
- Monitor voice infrastructure health, performance, and availability
- Perform platform upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management of telephony systems
- Maintain certificate lifecycle management and secure SIP/TLS connectivity
- Support integration of Teams telephony with enterprise network, identity, and security platforms
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex voice, SIP, and call quality issues
- Act as Tier 3 escalation for telephony incidents and outages
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and service improvement initiatives
- Maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures
- Support testing and validation of VoIP devices and Analog Telephone Adapters (ATAs)
- Collaborate with network, security, and operations teams on architecture and service design
Qualification Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Active security clearance preferred; must be eligible and able to obtain a clearance
- Ability to pass background investigation and suitability requirements
- Availability to work onsite as required
- Willingness to participate in on-call and after-hours support as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field — or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in enterprise telephony or unified communications
- Direct experience supporting Microsoft Teams Phone System in large-scale environments
- Strong experience with:
- Microsoft Teams Admin Center
- Microsoft 365 Admin Center
- PowerShell scripting and automation
- Hands-on expertise with:
- Microsoft Teams Direct Routing and Operator Connect
- SIP, VoIP routing, and enterprise dial plan design
- AudioCodes Mediant Session Border Controllers (SBCs)
- Experience deploying and supporting e911, call queues, auto-attendants, voicemail, and number management
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex voice and networking issues
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience supporting multi-site enterprise voice environments
