Global Laser Enrichment (GLE) is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Designer to support advanced engineering and laser enrichment-related projects. This contract role will focus on the development, modification, and documentation of mechanical designs using CAD tools, primarily SolidWorks. The ideal candidate has strong technical design experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a highly regulated, security-sensitive environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed mechanical designs, layouts, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks and other CAD tools.
- Create and maintain engineering drawings, 3D models, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical documentation in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, systems engineers, and project teams to translate engineering concepts into manufacturable designs.
- Support design reviews, configuration management, and change control processes.
- Incorporate design updates based on testing results, field feedback, or evolving project requirements.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Interface with vendors and manufacturing teams to support fabrication, assembly, and installation activities as needed.
Requirements:
- Active Q Clearance
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer or similar role.
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and CAD-based mechanical design.
- Experience creating detailed fabrication and assembly drawings.
- Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, tolerances, and material selection.
- Ability to work effectively in a secure, highly regulated environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Previous Laser Enrichment Experience is preferred.
Location/Work Arrangement:
- This position will be on site in Wilmington, NC.
- Schedule is full time, Monday-Friday, 40-hour week.
