About This Position
Job Summary
Performs patient care and treatment activities aboard a helicopter or fixed wing airplane and demonstrates clinical competencies necessary to perform patient care functions as assigned to this position. In addition, assists Program Director with Air Med QI program, staff development, safe practice, policy and procedure development, protocol development, coordinate day to day operations, approve schedules, community education and PR. Interfaces with Helicopter Service provider, billing company, Communication Center, trauma services, physicians, DSHS prehospital providers, program sponsors, other flight services, TAAMS, and other professional organizations. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director or Administrative Officer. Reports through nursing chain of command.
Qualifications
Education
- Required
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Associate’s degree in Nursing
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Experience:
- Required
- Three years of experience in Critical Care or Emergency
- Two to three years of experience in Air medical transport
- Preferred
- Two years of experience in Clinical Management
Certification/Licensure:
- Required
- Registered Nurse (RN), with authorization to practice in the State of Texas
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
- BLA, ACLS, TCC, PALS, or ENPC and NRP
- Advanced Certification-CFRN
- If hired on or before 1/1/2023: Must obtain by no later than 1/1/2025 and maintain through duration of employment. Additional state licenses may be required based on fixed wing services.
- If hired after 1/1/2023: Must obtain within two (2) years of hire date and maintain throughout duration of employment. Additional state licenses may be required based on fixed wing services.
- TPATC or ATLS Audit or TNATC
- Must obtain within two (2) years of start date
- PCCTC
- Must obtain within two (2) years of start date
- Preferred
- Instructor of any of the above courses
