GE/Dryer Superintendent at Boise Cascade Company – Thorsby, Alabama

• Responsible for both the Green End and Dryers including coordination of maintenance to obtain desired production, volume, and grade in an efficient, profitable and safe manner.
• Assists in preparation of budgets in areas of responsibility, ensures that operating costs stay within established budgets, and conducts periodical costs meetings.
• Monitors quality of peeled blocks, veneer, log recovery, veneer clipping, stacking, and storage.
• Monitors conditions of logs in the yard to include rotation and count.
• Determines priority of maintenance requirements. Reviews preventative maintenance schedules and electrical/mechanical problems.
• Monitors and reports safety, quality, production, and maintenance information to management in entire area of responsibility.
• Trains supervisory and hourly employees in job safety, including accident investigation, and holds periodic safety meetings with supervisors.
• Develops positive employee relations through encouraging participation of all employees in safety, cost, and productivity improvement programs.
