About This Position

Position Description: Student(s) will work backstage in the Fine Arts Auditorium in a technical capacity. Position Responsibilities: 10.00% - Organizing and maintaining stage, props, costumes and backstage areas 25.00% - Painting and constructing sets 25.00% - Hanging and focusing lights and operating light board 25.00% - Setting sound equipment and operating the sound board 10.00% - Assisting in a technical capacity with events held in the Fine Arts Auditorium 5.00% - Perform other duties as needed Expectations: Students must be able to work independently. Students must be reliable and punctual. Student must act professionally during special events in the FAA. Student must effectively communicate with supervisor. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Education - Current BCC student. Other Skills - Woodworking, experience with power tools preferred. Physical Requirements: The work requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing, repetitively lifting lightweight objects with frequent bending or stooping, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as computer, printers or record boxes. Occassionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds). Job requires average agility and dexterity. Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings. Wages/Other: This position pays $9.00/hour Job Advertisement: Student(s) will work backstage in the Fine Arts Auditorium in a technical capacity. Organizing and maintaining stage and backstage areas, painting, constructing sets for theatrical productions, hanging, focusing lights. operation of the light board, organizing properties room, organizing costume area, organizing costume workshop, assisting in a technical capacity with events held in the Fine Arts Auditorium, organizing and inventory of shop items, and woodworking, experience with power tools preferred. Please note this position requires availability to work variable hours from 1:00-5:00 as well as evenings.
