Accountabilities

Lead consistent 1-on-1s with direct reports focused on growth, wellbeing, and performance
Manage the full performance cycle including goal setting, ongoing feedback, and formal reviews
Mentor and develop data scientists and engineers of varying skill levels
Foster a collaborative, high-trust team environment where innovation thrives
Monitor team engagement and address issues proactively
Drive team growth through strategic hiring and onboarding
Guide the development and delivery of machine learning models and AI-powered solutions
Partner with engineering and product teams to align on priorities
Promote best practices in data science, including model quality and responsible AI
Translate complex data science outputs into actionable insights for stakeholders
Communicate effectively across all levels, from individual contributors to senior leadership
Align data science efforts with broader business objectives

Requirements

5+ years of experience managing data science or analytics teams with a strong focus on people development
Hands-on background in data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics
Strong technical foundation in Python, SQL, and relevant data science/machine learning frameworks
Experience working in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
Familiarity with Agile practices and data engineering workflows
Outstanding communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences
Genuine commitment to developing the team members around you
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field; experience is the most relevant factor
Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
