Metal Fabrication Welder

Job Title: Metal Fabrication Welder (Structural & Production)
Location: Virginia Beach, VA
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: Starting at $20.00/hour (higher depending on experience)

Role Summary
We are seeking skilled welders with fabrication experience to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment. In this role, you will work with a variety of welding techniques to build and assemble structural components while ensuring all work aligns with established quality and safety standards.
Welding & Fabrication
- Perform welding using multiple processes, including MIG, TIG, wire feed, spot welding, and oxy-acetylene
- Fabricate and weld structural components such as beams, frames, and tanks in various positions
- Read and interpret blueprints to determine layout and material requirements
- Prepare surfaces, complete weld finishing, and ensure final output meets specifications
Assembly & Equipment Use
- Assemble parts using methods such as bolting, clamping, drilling, tapping, and cutting
- Operate hand and power tools including grinders and sanders for finishing work
- Set up and adjust welding equipment, including gas flow and wire feed settings
Quality & Maintenance
- Inspect materials, welds, and finished products for accuracy and quality
- Perform basic troubleshooting and report equipment issues for repair
- Support pressure testing and perform rework when necessary
Work Tracking & Communication
- Accurately record completed work and hours
- Communicate production updates, safety concerns, or quality issues to supervisors
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality work
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working in a high-volume production setting
- Willingness to learn new skills and support cross-training efforts
- Understanding of workplace safety standards and practices
- Ability to follow instructions and manage multiple assignments
- Previous welding experience preferred (skill level may be assessed through a weld test)
- Familiarity with fabrication tools and welding equipment
- Basic math and measurement skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- MIG welding certification preferred
- TIG welding experience or certification is a plus
- Trade school or vocational training is advantageous
