Job Description

Summary:
MCG’s products require engineering design, manufacturing, and quality input across electrical power, structural steel, airflow and cooling, noise control, equipment layouts, and systems integration. Engineering interns in the Power Systems division will be given short-term assignments consistent with their degree programs, coursework, and prior experience. They will work independently and with JTS staff to complete their assignments and contribute to MCG’s success. Designs and drawings will be documented in SolidWorks and AutoCAD depending on the project and engineering discipline.

Mechanical/Civil Engineering projects include designing and producing metal structures meeting requirements using SolidWorks (or AutoCAD for legacy systems), performing FEA or other load and stress and strain calculations, analyzing airflow (velocities, pressures, temperatures) including using CFD, calculating noise emissions, and analyzing heat transfer in/out and through the system, and systems integration and testing.
Electrical Engineering projects include designing, building, integrating, and testing electrical power equipment, wiring, and other electrically powered systems, interpreting customer and industry specifications and standards, balancing loads, producing designs, drawings, and schematics for electrical power equipment, and assisting with field support for installation and maintenance.

Manufacturing Engineering projects include producibility and quality input to designs, transitioning engineering designs into production, supporting production with capability and capacity studies, manufacturing plans, troubleshooting production issues, processing redlines and design/drawing updates, designing and analyzing fixturing, tooling and equipment, facility changes, and Value Engineering initiatives.
