Sr. Synon Developer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Sr. Synon Developer in the United States.

In this role, you will work on mission-critical systems supporting high-volume healthcare and claims processing operations. You’ll combine deep expertise in legacy technologies with modern development practices to enhance and evolve complex enterprise platforms. Operating in a collaborative and technically diverse environment, you will contribute to both maintaining existing systems and driving modernization initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to tackle complex challenges, optimize performance, and ensure system reliability at scale. Accountabilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using Synon/Cool 2E within IBM i (AS400) environments
  • Design and optimize COBOL-based programs and batch processing systems for high-volume transactions
  • Support and improve claims processing systems, including adjudication, eligibility, and benefits workflows
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production issues to ensure system stability and performance
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions
  • Lead code reviews and promote best practices in development and system design
  • Contribute to system integrations with external platforms using APIs, EDI, and other data exchange methods
  • Participate in modernization initiatives, helping evolve legacy systems with new tools and approaches
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and data security standards
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in Synon/Cool 2E development
  • Strong hands-on experience with COBOL programming in enterprise environments
  • Extensive experience working with IBM i (AS400) systems
  • Proven ability to manage and troubleshoot batch processing and high-volume transaction systems
  • Experience working with healthcare or pharmacy claims systems is a strong advantage
  • Ability to take on technical leadership responsibilities and mentor junior team members
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
  • Familiarity with system integrations and data exchange technologies is a plus
