Laborer- Utility Construction in Chattanooga, Tennessee at SAK Construction, LLC

SAK Construction has immediate openings for water and sewer Pipeline Construction Laborers in the Chattanooga, TN area. SAK is an industry leader in underground construction and provides the opportunity to work with some of the most talented and accomplished professionals in the industry.

• General laborer functions including shoveling, lifting pipe, locating and avoiding underground utilities, compacting soil, rock and other items as requested.
• Read plans, blueprints, schematics to determine layout of pipe, use lasers and other equipment required to accurately excavate/install per company guidelines ensuring required flow rates.
• Lay and install various types of pipes, including concrete, PVC, and ductile iron.
• Dig trenches using hand tools or machinery, such as backhoes, to prepare for pipe installation.
• Read and interpret grade instruments (example: rules, grade rods, carpenter levels and lasers)
• Ability to work and operate equipment in a safe and consistent manner
• Inspect places where pipes are fitted together to ensure pipes are spaced out properly and according to specifications.
• Seal joints.
• Ensure pipes are fitted and aligned using grade rods, transit levels, and pipe laser.

Qualifications:

• Experience in an outdoor construction environment.
• Ability to work effectively in confined spaces.
• Previous pipe excavation/installation experience required.
• CDL (Commercial Drivers License) is preferred
• A CDL must be obtained within 60 days to maintain employment.
• Ability to read and interpret all construction rules, instructions, manuals, and other documents.
• Ability to learn and follow company procedures and policies, including safety rules and regulations, proper use of equipment, and correct installation techniques.
