General Description
The Workforce Development Department at the Community College of Philadelphia is seeking part-time instructors to teach Essential Skills for Professional & Personal Success in our non-credit program. Courses include topics such as communication skills, teamwork, budgeting, leadership, coaching, customer service, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and decision making.

Classes are offered primarily during daytime hours, with occasional evening sessions as needed. Instruction is delivered both online and in person, either on campus or at client locations. Participants are typically adult learners. This position offers a competitive hourly rate.

Workforce Development provides credit and non-credit education to businesses, organizations, and individuals wishing to enhance their skillset and meet education goals. We offer a comprehensive menu of high-quality continuing education and career-training programs brought to you by our expert faculty and staff. Workforce Development delivers programming through the following business lines: Career & Professional Development Training, Contract Training and Corporate College.

Teaching faculty are an integral part of the larger Academic and Student Success Division at CCP including Workforce Development or Career Training. Specific Responsibilities
  • Teach Essential Skills Courses that are part of the Career & Professional Development Training, Open Enrollment and Contract Training Offerings.

  • Curriculum will be provided; adaptation to online format is the responsibility of the instructor.

  • Demonstrate appropriate use of existing technology to further learning for students.

  • Incorporate instructional technology to support the learning process.

  • Commitment to the College’s Mission: Demonstrate a sense of connection and responsibility for helping the College achieve success through a commitment to its mission, vision, and values.

  • Collaboration: Communicate effectively, share vision, focus on people, initiate positive change, value differences, and foster collaboration. Work with and inspire others to achieve college, department, and individual successes. Proactively identify/address problems.

  • Respect for Diversity: Establish an inclusive environment in the classroom. Demonstrate an understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of the College’s faculty, staff and students.

  • Manage the learning environment with a student-centered focus. Implement diverse teaching and learning strategies that accommodate the learning styles of students.

  • Student Success: Strive for excellence in teaching, applying best practices in the field of discipline, and modeling behaviors that encourage student success and retention. Recognize the unique needs, culture, and context of students and advocates for their learning and well-being.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree required.

  • Proven experience as an instructor or trainer, including at least two (2) years of teaching adult learners.

  • Working knowledge of designing and delivering effective instruction in online and in-person environments required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, a passion for training, and the ability to engage and connect with students are preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience teaching diverse student populations.

  • Demonstrated experience teaching within a community college.

  • Bilingual or other language proficiency.
