About This Position

Description:

SUMMARY

The CAD Specialist is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining technical drawings and plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software and while using production software to prepare for the production process. This role supports engineering, manufacturing, and project teams by preparing accurate and detailed designs that meet company and client specifications. The CAD Specialist ensures drawings are updated, properly documented, and compliant with industry standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)

· Develop and revise detailed CAD drawings, layouts, and schematics for projects.

· Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to translate design concepts into technical documents.

· Maintain drawing files, ensuring accuracy, version control, and proper documentation.

· Review and verify drawings for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements.

· Prepare 2D and/or 3D models as required.

· Support the development of technical manuals, diagrams, and presentations as needed.

· Coordinate with vendors or contractors to ensure drawings align with specifications.

· Assist in developing and implementing CAD standards, templates, and best practices.

· Provide technical support for CAD software and related tools.

· Detailing Mechanical Drawings

· Enter projects into specified production software. (i.e. Fabshop)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

· High School graduate/GED

· 5 Years’ AutoCAD experience

· Basic Computer Functions (Excel, Outlook, Adobe, Word, Etc.)

· Ability to accept responsibility

· Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly and complete work in a timely manner

· Revit and Sheet Metal/Mechanical Knowledge are a plus.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

None.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

· Strong sales presentation; effective rapport-building and relationship skills; ability to take initiative.

· Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or other relevant platforms).

· Strong technical drawing and drafting skills with attention to detail.

· Ability to interpret engineering sketches, blueprints, and specifications.

· Solid problem-solving and analytical skills.

· Effective communication and collaboration abilities across cross-functional teams.

· Time management skills to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.

· Knowledge of industry standards and practices related to drafting and design.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer, with frequent use of hands and fingers to operate CAD tools and office equipment. The role may occasionally involve lifting up to 20 pounds, such as files, binders, or equipment. Strong visual acuity is essential for reading blueprints, technical drawings, and computer screens. The position may also require occasional travel to job sites or vendor facilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes of airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to elevated.
