About This Position
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Serves as a member of the CEO's Leadership Team, providing strategic leadership in financial development, including annual fundraising, capital campaigns, planned giving, special events, grant writing, as well as the implementation of marketing and communication strategies.
- Develop and execute a robust fundraising strategy, including annual campaigns, major gifts, planned giving, and special events.
- Serves and leads assigned association committees. Develop strategies to increase volunteer involvement at all levels of financial development.
- Develops processes and is actively involved in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gift prospects. Maintains database resource files on top community leaders.
- Leads association strategy for grants from government sources and private foundations.
- Develops appropriate fundraising policies and procedures for the association.
- Tracks all gifts and pledges by source and purpose and provides reports as needed.
- Provides training in fundraising. Educate, motivate and provide feedback to individuals related to best practices in the fundraising process.
- Develop communication plans to ensure members, participants, and the community understand the case for support. Plan and oversee the association annual meeting, annual reports, newsletters, brochures and reports relevant to job duties.
- Develops annual operating goals, objectives and plan for the marketing and communications area. Monitors the achievement of this plan, taking appropriate action to ensure that the goals and objectives are met.
- Lead a team who produce and distribute information necessary to promote assigned programs, in accordance with membership and marketing plans, and ensures the YMCA presence across all social media platforms.
- Lead the development of marketing and communications content to be used in printed, video, and digital media.
- Ensure contacts with media representatives are established and maintained for the distribution of press releases.
- Develop, monitor and administer annual budget and maintain a positive fiscal position.
- Hire, train, evaluate and supervise assigned staff and volunteers. Provides development and leadership.
- Represents the association as required.
- Provide and maintain related reports.
- Performs all other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- CFRE or equivalent a bonus.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent. Master's degree preferred.
- 5-7 years of professional experience with a background in fundraising with the YMCA or another not for profit preferred.
- Ability to relate to community leaders and diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Working knowledge of giving and charitable vehicles.
- Ability to tell the story of the YMCA enabling potential donors to understand the YMCA and how they contribute to the achievement of its mission.
- Knowledge of the media and its use in gaining exposure for YMCA events and programs.
- Foundation and government grant writing expertise.
- Relevant and successful experience leading marketing strategies and processes.
- Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
- Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communications skills, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries.
