About This Position
The Sr Dir of Quality and Org Excellence is responsible for the vision, planning, development, implementation, maintenance, and oversight of quality improvement, patient safety, organization excellence, infection control, and patient experience activities. The Senior Director ensures compliance with regulatory reporting and develops/manages programs in alignment with the hospital’s strategic priorities. Ensures and coordinates compliance with QIO, MHA, AHRQ, TJC, ISMP, DPH, CMS, Leapfrog, NQF, payors and related regulatory agencies. The Senior Director directs and oversees the organizational excellence program integrating people, processes, and technology. The Senior Director oversees and facilitates project management for the organization in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to: productivity benchmarking initiatives; process flow/work redesign; performance/process improvement; and daily management systems. Contributes to and supports strategic decision-making such as annual goal setting, new program initiatives.Direct reports include the quality specialists, infection control team and patient relations/service excellence specialist.
Qualifications/ Experience:
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial/Management Engineering, Organizational Development, Nursing, or related field required.
• Master’s Degree preferred (in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field).
Certification / License:
• CPHQ required; PMP preferred; not required
Experience:
• 5 – 10 years of demonstrated experience in the application of quality improvement methodologies such as lean, six sigma and Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA).
• 5 – 10 years of experience in healthcare/ healthcare setting.
• Project management experience.
• 5+ years of direct management experience including dealing with complex issues or equivalent
• Excellent writing skills and demonstration of good project and people management skills are required.
• Superior communication skills; skilled listener and encourages direct, open, and honest conversation keeping all staff apprised of appropriate information;
• Proven ability to take initiative and build strong and productive personal relationships
• Excellent coaching, conflict resolution and mentoring skills
• Effectively manages team performance, including setting and holding employees accountable to established performance expectations. Ability to deliver effective feedback in a positive and constructive manner
• Ability to develop and foster relationships with both internal and external clients, medical staff and other clinicians
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, utilizing problem-solving skills, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment, and drive employee engagement and teamwork
• Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and drive performance and process improvement initiatives
• Strong presentation skills and ability to present at all levels of the organization
• Ability to formulate and execute strategic plans for the organization Demonstrated ability to make timely independent or team-led decisions based on available sound data and seasoned analysis.
