About the Role:

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities by providing personalized support and assistance. This position focuses on fostering independence and promoting community integration for clients, ensuring they can engage in daily activities and achieve their personal goals. The DSP will work closely with clients to develop and implement individualized support plans tailored to their unique needs and preferences. By building trusting relationships, the DSP will empower clients to make choices and participate actively in their communities. Ultimately, the DSP's efforts contribute to creating a more inclusive environment where individuals with disabilities can thrive and lead fulfilling lives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Experience with behavior management techniques.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and support services.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  • Implement individualized support plans and monitor client progress towards their goals.
  • Facilitate community engagement by accompanying clients to appointments, social events, and recreational activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions, progress, and any incidents that may occur.
  • Collaborate with families, healthcare providers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for clients.

The required skills for this role include strong communication and interpersonal abilities, which are essential for building rapport with clients and their families. Problem-solving skills are utilized daily to address challenges that may arise in supporting clients, ensuring their needs are met effectively.
