About This Position

OVERVIEW Foresight is seeking a qualified Geotechnical Engineer to join our Austin office. This role involves delivering geotechnical engineering and consulting services for transportation and infrastructure projects across Texas. The selected candidate will work on advanced and complex assignments in the areas of project development, design, construction, and maintenance. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND FIELD WORK • Plan, coordinate, and lead geotechnical site investigations • Conduct geotechnical engineering analysis for walls, slopes, foundations, and pavements • Develop design recommendations, technical details, plans, and specifications • Conduct construction inspection services and assist with forensic site evaluations PROJECT CONTRIBUTION • Prepare, write, and review geotechnical reports and documentation • Conduct constructability reviews plan sets • Assist with project management tasks including scope, schedule, and budget • Support quality control reviews for client deliverables • Ensure compliance with TxDOT and industry standards, as well as internal procedures PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT • Collaborate with and receive mentorship from senior geotechnical staff • Participate in internal training and knowledge-sharing sessions • Contribute to business development and operational activities as needed QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND LICENSURE • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering • Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering (preferred) • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Texas (required) • TxDOT Pre-Certifications in geotechnical work categories (preferred) EXPERIENCE • 8+ years of geotechnical engineering experience • Experience with TxDOT transportation projects • Proven project management skills (scope, schedule, budget) • Business development experience TECHNICAL SKILLS • Familiarity with geotechnical software such as Slide, LPile, MSEW, and Settle. • Understanding of soil mechanics, foundation analysis, and geotechnical testing methods. SOFT SKILLS • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills • Ability to take initiative and work independently with guidance and support TxDOT PRE-CERTIFICATIONS Not required, but highly desirable. Candidates with TxDOT pre-certifications in geotechnical work categories will be strongly considered. JOB LOCATION The selected candidate will primarily perform office duties at Foresight’s Austin headquarters, located at 13805 Research Blvd, Suite 200, Austin, Texas 78750. A hybrid work-from-home arrangement may be available, depending on project needs and team coordination. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS This role requires less than 25% travel, primarily for site visits, advanced field/forensic evaluations, and client engagement across various locations throughout Texas.
