About This Position

Description:

Are you a DC Resident looking to become an apprentice? Well Magnolia Companies might be the best spot for you. As a Plumbing / Mechanical Apprentice, you will work alongside our experienced construction plumbers and mechanical technicians to gain practical, hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing and mechanical systems in construction projects. Under the guidance of skilled professionals, you will learn the fundamentals of the trade and contribute to the successful completion of a variety of construction projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist journeyman plumbers and HVAC technicians with installations, repairs, and maintenance of plumbing and mechanical systems.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Handle and maintain tools, equipment, and materials used in plumbing and mechanical work.
  • Perform basic tasks such as cutting, threading, and assembling pipes, fittings, and fixtures.
  • Assist with the installation and servicing of heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment, including boilers, furnaces, air conditioners, and ductwork.
  • Learn to identify and troubleshoot plumbing and mechanical problems, and assist with implementing effective solutions.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team members.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers
  • Participate in training programs, workshops, and educational opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in the plumbing and mechanical trades.
Requirements:
  • Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in the plumbing or mechanical trades.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions from experienced professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform tasks that may require lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.
