Staff Accountant at Alverno College – Milwaukee, Wisconsin

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated Staff Accountant to join our team. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial statements and reports. You will work closely with the accounting team to perform various accounting functions, including bank reconciliations, journal entries, and account reconciliations. Your attention to detail and ability to analyze financial data will be critical to your success in this role. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of all financial transactions and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• 2+ years of experience in accounting
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations
• Experience with balance sheets and general ledger
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA certification
• Experience with job costing
• Experience with account analysis

Responsibilities:

• Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations on a monthly basis
• Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports
• Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations

Skills:

As a Staff Accountant, you will use your strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial statements and reports. You will also use your analytical and problem-solving skills to perform various accounting functions, including bank reconciliations, journal entries, and account reconciliations. Your attention to detail and ability to analyze financial data will be critical to your success in this role. Additionally, experience with balance sheets and general ledger will be beneficial.
