The Inpatient Hospital Representative supports PATHS’ mission by assisting patients and families in securing appropriate medical assistance and insurance coverage within inpatient and emergency department hospital settings. This role ensures accurate documentation, timely completion of applications, and compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations while contributing to patient advocacy and revenue cycle support for PATHS’ hospital clients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist patients with applying for Medical Assistance (Medicaid) in inpatient and emergency department hospital settings, both bedside and desk-based
- Verify patient health insurance coverage and eligibility
- Work with patients, family members, employers, banks, and federal/state agencies to obtain required documentation
- Accurately document patient and application information in multiple systems
- Perform administrative support tasks including faxing, filing, emailing, and phone communication
- Provide coverage at hospital facilities on an as-needed basis
- Meet established productivity and accuracy standards
- Complete all required initial PATHS training (HIPAA, compliance, security, client protocols, role-specific workflows) within onboarding timelines
- Participate in required ongoing training and demonstrate the ability to retain and apply new knowledge
- Perform other related duties as assigned
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements: Required Skills & Abilities- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of protected health information (HIPAA compliance required)
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to meet monthly productivity requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- EPIC system knowledge preferred but not required
- Ability to function well in a high-paced hospital environment and adapt to multiple client sites
- High school diploma or GED required
- Prior healthcare, Medicaid eligibility, patient access, or revenue cycle experience preferred
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods standing and walking while on site in the hospital
- Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license to travel between PATHS’ Newark, DE office and client hospital facilities in Dover, DE

Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of applicable pre-employment screenings consistent with federal, state, and local laws and role-specific requirements.

Because PATHS operates in the healthcare industry, certain compliance-related screenings—including OIG/GSA exclusion checks and state Medicaid exclusion lists—may be conducted on a recurring basis as required by law, client contracts, and hospital compliance programs.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation: $17.00 – $20.00/hour (actual range provided in postings as required by applicable pay transparency laws)
