About This Position
Job Summary:
We're looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Administrator to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining compliance with Canadian payroll legislation, and serving as a point of contact for payroll-related inquiries. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of payroll systems and regulations, and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Using Payworks, process biweekly payroll across multiple provinces, including validating hours worked, tracking vacation and sick time, and issuing Records of Employment (ROEs) as needed
- Maintain and update the payroll system to ensure accuracy and data integrity, including pay rates, benefit deductions, job classifications, and tax information
- Keep employee payroll files current and organized, including records for new hires, terminations, job or wage changes, and leaves of absence
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees with clarity and professionalism
- Prepare payroll reports for internal use, audits, and financial reporting
- Stay current on changes in Canadian payroll laws, tax regulations, and best practices
- Assist with year-end processes including T4s and T2200's
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Payroll Administrator, Payroll Clerk, or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll practices, employment standards, and tax regulations
- Proficiency with advanced payroll software
- Comfortable working with Google Sheets (or Microsoft Excel), Google Forms, and other data tools
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
