About This Position
Senior Accountant
Under the general direction of the Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for general accounting functions, including posting journal entries and accruals, reconciling accounts and preparation of balance sheets and profit and loss statements. This role will also oversee inventory analysis on cycle count variances and absorption rates. Provides specialized or general analysis and support in various accounting functions.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Conducts Balance Sheet and P&L account analysis for review by management
• Investigate and resolve accounting transactions based on analysis and as needed
• Supervise and mentor one direct report
• Gathers and organizes relevant financial documents and records required for financial and internal audits
• Collaborates with management to address any findings or recommendations made by the external auditor for quarter and annual engagement, implementing corrective actions or improvements as necessary to mitigate risks and strengthen internal controls
• Conducts month-end and year-end closing procedures, which include preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheets, and analyzing financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards
• Prepares accruals and analyzes prepaid expenses to ensure that financial statements provide a true and fair view of financial performance and position
• Analyzes PPE roll forward schedule and monitors CIP balance
• Inventory analysis of FIFO layers and absorption rates
• Prepares internal reports as required
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field required, MBA a plus
• CPA a plus
• 4 years of accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• ERP systems experience is desired; D365 a plus
