About This Position
Job Summary:
Assumes responsibility for the overall functioning of the clinical areas. Coordinates nursing care and practice as well as wound care activities in conjunction with the philosophy, policies, procedures and program plans of the hospital. Evaluates appropriateness of wound consult patients, coordinates care/patient education and follow-up. Acts as a liaison with physicians and other health care team members. Participates in house-wide skin/wound care programs for staff education and patient care as needed, including Prevalence and Competency Days. Develops and participates in unit PI Assumes some varied and flexible scheduling to meet patient and staff needs. Use an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age-specific treatment and care.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Graduate from an accredited school or university
- Experienced and demonstrates clinical competence in Wound Care
- Minimum of 1-year previous Wound Care experience
- Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- Current Registered Nurse License in the state of New Jersey
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- Wound and Ostomy certification or completion within 1 year of hire
Scheduling Requirements:
- Full-Time
- Day shift
- 40 hours per week
- Able to be flexible with schedule
Essential Functions:
The Registered Nurse organizes and administers individualized age-specific professional care to patients within assigned units of the hospital in support of medical care. Supports philosophy, objectives and the mission and vision of Rahway and the Department of Nursing. Practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, Department of Health Regulations, TJC requirements and other regulatory agencies. Participates in patient teaching and discharge planning. Participates in unit Quality Improvement evaluation activities.
