About the role:

The Senior Commissioning Manager is a senior technical leader responsible for ensuring Divcon Controls’ successful execution of data center commissioning activities across all active projects. This role serves as Divcon’s primary commissioning authority in the field during Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5 commissioning phases.

The position combines hands-on technical oversight with organizational development responsibilities, including assessing site readiness, identifying and resolving commissioning deficiencies, supporting integrated systems testing, and developing standardized commissioning processes and training programs. Extensive travel to project sites nationwide is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Commissioning Readiness & Site Oversight

Travel to project sites approaching or executing Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5 commissioning phases.Assess project team readiness prior to and during commissioning milestones, including documentation, staffing, equipment, and sequencing.Review commissioning plans, test scripts, and sequences of operation for technical accuracy and contractual alignment.Communicate commissioning readiness status to project leadership and stakeholders; escalate risks early to avoid delays.Ensure construction and controls teams are prepared for integrated systems testing (IST) and other critical commissioning milestones.

Deficiency Identification & Documentation

Identify, document, and track deficiencies that could impact successful commissioning outcomes (internal and external).Maintain accurate records of deficiencies, responsible parties, corrective actions, and closure status using approved project management systems.Facilitate formal deficiency reporting with general contractors, owners, and commissioning agents.Ensure deficiencies are resolved prior to scheduled testing activities.

Technical Problem Solving & Escalation

Serve as the primary technical escalation point for commissioning-related issues during active testing.Diagnose and resolve technical issues during functional performance testing (FPT) and integrated systems testing (IST).Perform root cause analysis for test failures and assign accountability to appropriate parties.Engage internal engineering resources or external partners as required to resolve complex technical issues.Coordinate closely with subcontractors, commissioning agents, and owner representatives.

Training & Team Development

Develop and deliver training programs related to data center commissioning, including Levels 1–5 commissioning.Train internal teams on PLC and DDC control systems within mission-critical environments.Create and maintain standardized training materials, SOPs, and commissioning playbooks.Lead classroom sessions, workshops, and hands-on field training.Mentor engineers and technicians in:Functional performance testing (FPT)Integrated systems testing (IST)Controls sequence of operations validationPartner with project teams to align training content with real-world execution needs.Maintain current knowledge of relevant industry standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, Uptime Institute, NETA).

Cross‑Project Accountability & Leadership

Maintain visibility across all active commissioning projects and provide regular status updates to the Director of Operations.Identify recurring commissioning issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.Support standardization of commissioning documentation and project handover deliverables.Represent Divcon professionally in client-facing meetings, progress reviews, and executive briefings

Qualificiations:

· Minimum of 5 years of experience in data center commissioning, mission-critical facilities, or a related environment.

· Strong technical background in PLC and/or DDC control systems.

· Hands-on experience with mission-critical HVAC and electrical systems, including:

o HVAC: chillers, CRAHs/CRACs, cooling towers

o Electrical: UPS systems, generators, switchgear

· Comprehensive understanding of commissioning Levels 1–5 and integrated systems testing methodologies.

· Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and develop technical teams.

· Strong written and verbal communication, documentation, and presentation skills.

· Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities across geographically diverse projects.

· Willingness and ability to travel extensively nationwide.

Preferred Experience

· Experience working with commissioning firms, general contractors, hyperscalers, or data center operators.

· Familiarity with major controls platforms (e.g., Siemens, Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, Tridium/Niagara).

· Experience developing commissioning test scripts, sequences of operation, and documentation packages.

· Professional certifications such as:

o Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA)

o LEED Accredited Professional

o NETA Certification

Physical Requirements

· Ability to travel frequently as needed to job sites by plane or car.

· Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout job sites for extended periods

· Ability to climb ladders, stairs and lifts as required

· Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and work in tight or confined spaces

· Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment and materials up to 50 pounds

· Manual dexterity to handle tools, wiring, and small components

· Ability to work at heights and in varying indoor and outdoor conditions

· Visual keenness to read schematics, labels, and digital displays

· Ability to hear and respond to alarms, equipment sounds, and verbal instructions

· Capability to safely operate hand and power tools
