This is a full-time in-office role, M-F from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with a 1-hour lunch. Candidates living farther than 40 miles or 1 1/2 hours from the office will not be considered for the position.

Salary: $85,000 - $95,000

Job Description:

We are seeking an HR Operations Manager to own our HR operations, payroll, benefits administration, and HR systems.

This is an operational role that reports directly to the President and focuses on building processes and systems that can scale with the company’s future growth. As this is a new seat, you will be responsible for creating the playbook.

Key Responsibilities:

Weekly Payroll

Process and manage weekly payroll accurately and on timeValidate time data, crew hours, and payroll inputs for completeness and accuracyEnsure proper handling of deductions, garnishments, benefits, and taxesMaintain payroll compliance and reporting standardsPartner with Finance to ensure alignment with payroll reporting and journal processes

HRIS & Systems (Rippling)

Own and administer Rippling as the company’s HRISComplete system implementation and ensure data accuracy and integrityManage employee records, job changes, and system workflowsServe as the internal expert for Rippling, implement improvements, and troubleshoot issues as needed

HR Process & Systems

Identify gaps in current HR processes and implement standardized workflowsBuild and document processes for:Onboarding and new hire setupEmployee documentation (write-ups, performance tracking, separations)Ensure processes are consistent, compliant, and scalable

Reporting & Compliance

Manage onboarding, documentation, and employee recordkeepingEnsure compliance with employment laws and company policiesHandle employee status changes, terminations, and required documentationSupport audits, reporting, and compliance requirements

HR Support & Employee Relations

Respond to employee questions related to payroll, benefits, and policiesGuide managers on HR processes and documentationMaintain confidentiality and professionalism in all HR matters

Transition from Outsourced HR

Partner with the current outsourced HR provider to transition responsibilities in-houseDocument processes and ensure continuityEstablish full internal ownership of HR operations

Benefits Administration

Own and manage all employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and ancillary coverages (life, disability, etc.)Administer benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations accurately and in a timely mannerLead and coordinate the annual open enrollment process, including planning, communication, and executionServe as the primary point of contact for employee benefit questions and supportEnsure accurate setup and deductions within the HRIS and payroll systemsReconcile monthly benefits invoices and resolve discrepanciesPartner with brokers and providers to manage plans, renewals, and changesMaintain compliance with applicable regulations (ACA, COBRA, etc.)

Required Qualifications:

4–7+ years of experience in HR operations and payrollStrong payroll experienceExperience with HRIS systems (Rippling or Paylocity preferred or similar platforms)Solid understanding of HR compliance and employment practicesHigh attention to detail and strong organizational skillsProven ability to build and improve processes in a growing environment

Technical Experience

Experience with HRIS platforms such as Rippling, Paycom, ADP, Paylocity, or similar systems requiredFamiliarity with benefits administration systems, including enrollment and billing reconciliationExperience working with time tracking systems, crew hours, or field-based payroll inputs preferredProficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets (data validation, reporting, reconciliations)Experience supporting or coordinating HRIS implementations or system transitions preferred

Minimum Employment Requirements:

Clear a National, State, and Local Background Check.Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen & complete a post-offer pre-employment physical.Pass the 90-day introductory period.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in construction or field-based workforce environmentsMulti-state payroll experience (weekly pay, hourly/salary experience)Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field preferredEquivalent work experience in HR operations and payroll management will be considered in lieu of a degree

Preferred Certifications:

SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCPPHR or SPHRCertified Payroll Professional (CPP)
