Coordinator for Athletics, Activities & Student Services

    Providing individualized instruction and enrichment opportunities for students to ensure that gifted students are challenged and struggling students are supported;

Capital Preparatory Schools seeks passionate educators who have demonstrated leadership.

Coordinator for Athletics, Activities & Student Services responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Develop an equitable compensation system and design athletic programming for each school location.

    Design and implement processes for hiring and monitoring athletic programming consistent with Capital Prep model and requirements.

    Recruit qualified candidates for athletic coaching roles/confirm all coaches meet the state requirements.

    Oversee and monitor athletic coaches and extracurricular leads in school locations.

    Develop Code of Conduct for Athletics and Competition Eligibility requirements.

    Follow-up on each scholar’s eligibility to play.

    Attend all home sports competitions and evening activities.

    Build out communication to families through training and direct communication electronically (website).

    Provide content and collaborate with CPS Communications and outside vendors to provide recruiting materials.

    Develop system and monitor implementation of the two-sport requirement.

    Ensure compliance with state-wide and network obligations for certification, first aid training, AED, concussion training, etc.

    Ensure the safety and safe practices for student athletes.

    Organize events for students relative to sports and activities (e.g. Battle of the Crest).

    Ensure compliance with state obligations (permission slips, physicals, etc.)

    Ensure conformity with Title IX and other applicable law.

    Arrange for practice fields, game schedules, transportation, etc. for all sports at each school to provide maximum opportunities for all students to participate within budget.

    Manage athletics and activities budget in conjunction with school leadership and provide projections for the budget development process.

    Track and report data regarding student engagement, 2 sport requirement, PE requirements, etc. and report the same to school leaders and CMO liaison.

    Approve equipment and uniform selection in collaboration with CMO and school leadership.

    Manage the Clearinghouse process for students.

    Monitor coach compliance with entering grades in student information system.

    Support college-going process for students in collaboration with school leadership.

    Engage parents with presentations and training about sports programming and college impact.

    Create and monitor comprehensive student activities and design and implement a monitoring program.

    Participate in Student Assistance Team meetings as needed to support scholar engagement.

    Provide scholar recruiting support for the school by attending recruiting events and engaging organizations to engage potential scholars.

    Participate in attendance meetings, place calls and engage in outreach.

    Develop relationships with community groups to create collaborations and partnerships.

    Performs any and all duties as may be assigned by Administration (principals and Assistant Superintendent of Student Services).

Skills:

    Organizational leadership with strong attention to detail

    Strong communication skills to varied audiences - both verbal and written.

    Understanding of legal and compliance requirements

    Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage multiple stakeholders

    Collaborative work style to coordinate

    Attention to detail and strong planning skill set

    Knowledge of college entrance rules and systems

    Fiscal and budgeting expertise

    Facilities and operational understanding

Experience/Training:

    3 or more years coaching experience

    Appropriate state certification(s) (NYS Coaching Certification or CT Coaching Certification depending on location)

    Completion of all applicable mandated safety training - concussion, first aid, CPR, AED, etc.

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

    Lifting requirement up to 60 pounds

Compensation:

Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience range is from $65,000 - $82,500. Capital Preparatory Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package. This is a full-year, full-time, exempt position. This is a vacation eligible position. Travel, weekends, and evening work shall be required.
