Job Description:

About Our Team:

The Global Risk, Safety and Resilience team manages the company's operational risks and advises the business on other commercial, strategic or reputational challenges that may arise. With functions covering audits & investigations, business resilience (incident & crisis management, business continuity), digital risk, event security, global operations & insights, executive safety, health, safety & wellness, high risk & newsroom safety and workplace security, the department covers a diverse technical portfolio leveraged to ensure risks are reasonably managed, security threats addressed and disruptions limited in support of Dow Jones' strategic goals.

About the Role

Dow Jones produces more than one hundred live events each year, convening global leaders, decision-makers, and influential audiences to explore the most important issues shaping business, policy, and society. These events-ranging from The Wall Street Journal Innovator Awards to global summits and executive gatherings-are central to Dow Jones' brand and reputation for excellence.

Based in either New York, NY or Washington, DC, the Senior Manager, Event Risk & Intelligence serves as a senior operational leader within the GRSR team responsible for leading and delivering an intelligence-led approach to managing risk across the company's global event portfolio.

Reporting to the Director of Executive Safety & Event Security, this role leads the implementation and operational delivery of Dow Jones' global Event Risk & Intelligence framework that integrates threat analysis, protective intelligence, geopolitical awareness, and operational risk assessment into event planning and execution. The position focuses on proactively identifying emerging risks-including geopolitical developments, civil unrest, reputational exposure, digital threats, and personnel vulnerabilities-and translating intelligence insights into practical guidance that enables safe, resilient, and business-aligned event delivery. The role is responsible for determining and directing proportionate risk mitigation measures aligned to event profile and operating environment. The role is also accountable for the end-to-end delivery of event safety and risk management services across the global event portfolio, ensuring planning, coordination, execution, and post-event review activities are performed consistently and in alignment with Dow Jones standards.

In addition to leading global event risk strategy, the Senior Manager oversees and manages the Audits & Investigations function within the portfolio, directing reviews, inquiries, and investigative activities related to security, safety, and operational incidents. The role ensures findings, trend analysis, and lessons learned are systematically incorporated into risk mitigation strategies, operational standards, and continuous program improvement across Dow Jones operations.

The role manages a team of risk and security professionals and partners closely with stakeholders across Events, Legal, HR, Communications, Editorial, and Global Operations to embed risk-informed decision-making into business activities. Success in this position requires strong analytical judgment, operational leadership, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders operating in complex and rapidly evolving environments.

This is a hybrid role based in New York, NY or Washington, DC, with travel requirements of up to 30% annually, driven by major events, operational support needs, and investigative responsibilities.

You Will
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Dow Jones' global Event Risk & Intelligence framework, integrating threat analysis, protective intelligence, and operational risk management into event planning and delivery.
  • Oversee and ensure end-to-end operational delivery of event safety and risk management services across Dow Jones' global event portfolio.
  • Identify and assess risks that may impact events, personnel, operations, or organizational reputation across global operating environments.
  • Drive the production of intelligence-informed risk assessments supporting executive decision-making for high-profile and complex events.
  • Align event risk practices with enterprise risk management objectives and business strategy.
  • Apply risk mitigation strategies proportionate to assessed threat, operational exposure, and business context.

  • Manage internal personnel and third-party partners responsible for global event risk delivery.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of third-party vendors and security partners, including selection, onboarding, performance oversight, and ongoing service evaluation.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, including event production, editorial, legal, HR, and executive leadership. Ensure communication is clear, actionable, and aligned with business priorities.
  • Establish scalable policies, playbooks, and preparedness programs that strengthen situational awareness across regional stakeholders.
  • Maintain relationships with public safety, intelligence, and industry partners across operating regions.

You Have
  • 10+ years of experience in risk management, protective intelligence, security operations, or related disciplines within a complex global organization.
  • Demonstrated understanding of established risk management principles and frameworks, including risk identification, assessment, prioritization, and treatment within operational or enterprise environments.
  • Experience applying structured risk methodologies to evaluate how geopolitical developments, regulatory dynamics, and regional operating environments impact business operations and live event delivery.
  • Proven ability to translate intelligence and risk analysis into practical operational guidance supporting business continuity and event execution.
  • Experience assessing risks within high-visibility or public-facing environments.
  • Strong analytical capability synthesizing intelligence, open-source reporting, and situational data into actionable guidance for senior stakeholders.
  • Experience leading cross-functional programs and influencing stakeholders across global business environments.
