We are looking for a Full-Time Cook to join our team!

Description

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals for residents in accordance with regular and therapeutic diet requirements. This role ensures meals are flavorful, visually appealing, safely prepared, and tailored to individual resident needs and preferences while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Prepare food for regular and therapeutic diets accurately and according to a planned menu; prepare alternative items to meet residents’ individual needs and food preferences.
  • Ensure that food tastes good and is served in an attractive, appetizing manner.
  • Utilize standardized recipes to prepare menu items.
  • Help ensure that an adequate supply of food, supplies, etc. is available at all times.
  • Complete tasks according to established time schedules.
  • Make recommendations to the Culinary Manager regarding improvements in recipes, menus, production and service of food, equipment, etc. to enhance the quality of the food service.
  • Work cooperatively as a team member with co-workers in all departments of the facility
  • Interact appropriately and in a positive manner with residents, families, and visitors.
  • Ensure punctuality and regular attendance for assigned shifts.
  • Keep work area clean and uncluttered during preparation and service of food.
  • Wash dishes, kitchen items, and perform cleaning assignments as necessary
  • Perform duties using proper infection control techniques and using protective equipment as needed.
  • Perform all duties using proper food handling and food safety techniques according to established policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Record keeping as required by established policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations

What We're Looking For:

  • Knowledge of safe food preparation and handling techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic nutrition and food.
  • Skilled in quantity food production.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with facility staff, residents and their family members.
  • Ability to be patient and polite.
  • Ability to be accurate, concise, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to read, speak, understand, and communicate effectively in English through verbal and written means at a level appropriate for the job.
  • Ability to do basic math.

Requirements:

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Licenses/Certification

ServSafe Food Safety Certification required.

Food Handlers permit.

Experience

Six months’ experience in large quantity food preparation. Experience with therapeutic diet preparation preferred.

Six months experience in a long term care environment preferred.

Requirements:

All employees of Cascadia Healthcare are required to submit and be cleared to work in the facility per each state’s specific background check requirements prior to contact with patients/residents.

Must be 18 years or older

Federal Child Labor Laws do not permit employees younger than 18 years of age to work with or repair, adjust, or clean power-driven machines such as meat slicers and commercial mixers. Therefore, individuals must be at least 18 years of age to be employed in this position.
