About This Position
The Field Engineer (Entry-Level Staff Engineer) is a hands-on, field-driven Environmental Engineering role designed for recent graduates or early-career engineers who want to build real-world experience under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer (PE). This position is approximately 90% field-based and supports environmental remediation, environmental construction, and site investigation projects at active job sites.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to learn by doing, gain exposure to complex environmental projects, and grow into higher-level engineering and project responsibilities over time. You will work closely with experienced engineers, project managers, and field teams while developing the technical foundation needed for long-term career advancement.
This position is specific to Environmental Engineering. Candidates with backgrounds in Electrical Engineering, IT, software, or unrelated engineering disciplines will not be considered.
Salary & CompensationSalary Range: $50,000–$60,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications
This is an entry-level, field-based role with a defined career growth path and direct mentorship under a Professional Engineer (PE). Compensation is structured to grow with increased responsibility, technical capability, and progression along the Field Engineer → Project Engineer career track.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering (Environmental focus), or a closely related environmental discipline
0–3 years of experience in environmental engineering, remediation, construction support, or field investigations (internships and co-ops count)
Ability and willingness to perform extensive field work (approximately 90%) in varying weather and site conditions
Basic understanding of environmental sampling, field data collection, and safety procedures
Strong interest in environmental remediation, construction support, and regulatory compliance
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as required
Internship or entry-level experience supporting:
Environmental remediation or environmental construction projects
Soil, groundwater, vapor, or surface water sampling
Field oversight, inspections, or construction observation
Familiarity with EPA and state environmental regulations (Florida FDEP experience is a plus)
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or intent to pursue licensure
Perform field-based environmental engineering activities, including sampling, monitoring, inspections, and construction support
Support remediation and environmental construction projects under the direction of a Professional Engineer (PE) and Project Manager
Assist with field documentation, data collection, and preparation of technical memoranda and reports
Observe and support remediation system installation, operation, and maintenance activities
Ensure field work complies with project plans, safety requirements, and regulatory standards
Communicate field observations, data, and site conditions clearly to the project team
Take on increasing responsibility as technical skills and experience develop
Strong interest in hands-on, field-focused environmental engineering
Ability to work independently in the field while following established procedures
Attention to detail and commitment to accurate field documentation
Willingness to learn from senior engineers and accept technical guidance
Clear communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
