This leadership role drives the data science strategy for a large-scale, AI-powered student engagement platform. The Director will oversee predictive and generative AI systems that anticipate student needs, personalize interventions, and optimize outcomes across multiple educational institutions. You will lead a multidisciplinary team working on machine learning models, conversational AI, multimodal intelligence, and rigorous experimentation. The position combines technical expertise with strategic oversight, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure AI initiatives translate into measurable impact. Success in this role requires both hands-on experience with production ML systems and the ability to inspire, mentor, and scale a high-performing data science organization. - Lead the design, development, and lifecycle management of predictive and conversational AI models that power personalized student experiences.
- Architect multimodal intelligence frameworks using voice, text, and behavioral data to extract actionable insights and guide real-time interventions.
- Drive technical product analytics and experimentation, including A/B testing, feature rollouts, and behavior-driven studies, to inform AI-powered product decisions.
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to define technical success metrics that directly link AI outcomes to student engagement and operational goals.
- Scale and mentor a multidisciplinary data science team, fostering a culture of ownership, rigor, and rapid iteration.
- Build and maintain evaluation and monitoring systems for AI features to ensure accuracy, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Translate complex technical findings into strategic insights for leadership, guiding decisions across the organization.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or analytics roles.
- 5+ years leading multidisciplinary data science or analytics teams.
- Hands-on experience building, launching, and managing production ML systems with governance and monitoring frameworks.
- Expertise in predictive and generative AI, including conversational systems and LLM evaluation frameworks.
- Strong command of Python, SQL, and ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn.
- Experience designing and analyzing experiments (A/B testing, feature rollouts, behavioral studies).
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or equivalent experience.
- Proven ability to translate complex models and data into actionable insights for executives and cross-functional teams.
- Strong leadership skills, with a focus on mentoring, team growth, and fostering collaboration.
