About This Position
The Tester/Front Desk/Scribe Assistant cooperates in the process of patient care by completing visual fields, OCTs, topographies, pachymetry, photography and other duties as assigned..
QUALIFICATIONS:
The tester shall:
- Be a high school graduate or the equivalent
- Write clearly and legibly
- Must be computer literate
- Have prior medical setting experience (preferred)
- Have excellent customer/patient service skills
- Detail oriented
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The tester/front desk/scribe assistant reports to the Technician Supervisor and interacts positively with staff members while maintaining HIPPA/ OSHA compliance.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Walking patients to and from doctor lanes if the physician requests.
- Travel to assist other doctors in satellite locations as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Aptitudes: Audio, visual and verbal ability, ability to give and follow instructions clearly and concisely.
Techniques and Procedures: Requires 100% interaction with people, manual dexterity to 85 - 90%, Reaching limited to 60 - 80%, sitting and standing 100%.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to operate visual testing equipment
Ability to write legibly
Ability to sit/ stand for extended periods
Requirements:ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Meet, greet, and direct patients to the exam room and prepare them for testing ordered by the physician.
2. Preparation includes giving instructions to the patient regarding the use of the testing equipment, cleaning, maintaining equipment, and keeping up with the stock of medical supplies needed to assist during testing.
3. Perform the type of test requested by the physician; Humphrey Visual Field, Goldman Visual Field, and/or Heidelberg Retinotomographer exam.
4. Print the test results as needed and send the results to Intellechart Pro (ICP).
5. Record all tests performed for the day by chart number and ordering physician.
6. Maintain a smooth patient flow within the testing areas.
7. Redirect the patient to other treatment/scheduling areas.
8. Reload the room
9. Confirmation calls for the front desk
10. Cover the front desk during lunch
11. Scanning documents for the front desk
