Sheetmetal Laborer at FW Walton INC – Houston, Texas

Laborers support the roofing crew by performing general labor tasks related to the installation and maintenance of commercial roofing systems. Working under the direct supervision of foremen and superintendents, laborers assist with preparing job sites, handling materials, cleaning work areas, and ensuring all safety protocols are followed. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals who are reliable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn the roofing trade. Laborers must be able to follow instructions, use proper personal protective equipment (PPE), and contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Assist roofers in the installation of commercial roofing systems (e.g., TPO, PVC, EPDM, Modified Bitumen, Built-Up Roofs, etc.)
• Load, unload, and organize roofing materials and tools on job sites
• Set up and take down ladders, scaffolding, and other equipment
• Remove old roofing materials and assist with roof tear-offs
• Clean work areas and maintain job site cleanliness and safety
• Follow directions from foreman, lead roofer, or superintendent
• Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
• Assist with roof surface preparation under supervision
• Help inspect materials for quality and damage
• Support in moving materials and equipment to and from the roof
• Follow all OSHA and company safety standards
• Maintain a respectful and professional attitude toward coworkers and clients
• Perform other general labor tasks as directed by the crew foreman or supervisor
• Willingness and ability to travel out of town for work as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous roofing or construction experience is a plus but not required.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work at heights.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
