Position Overview

The Mortgage Processor supports loan officers by managing new mortgage loan applications from initial submission through closing. This role is the operational backbone of the loan pipeline, responsible for gathering and verifying borrower documentation, coordinating with title companies and attorneys, communicating with customers and realtors, and ensuring each file is complete and compliant before underwriting and closing. The Mortgage Processor plays a key role in delivering a smooth, timely experience for borrowers and referral partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process new mortgage loan applications by collecting, organizing, and verifying all required borrower documentation including income, assets, employment, and credit information.
  • Promote and maintain strong relationships with customers and realtors, providing timely loan status updates and responding to inquiries with professionalism and accuracy.
  • Order and track title work, homeowner’s insurance, flood determinations, and any additional third-party services required for loan approval and closing.
  • Coordinate with attorneys’ offices and title companies to schedule closings and prepare complete closing packages.
  • Provide payoff information on existing loans to attorneys, closing agents, and customers as needed.
  • Assemble loan packages in the correct format for submission to underwriting and for sale to secondary market investors.
  • Stay current on underwriting guidelines for secondary market programs to ensure loan files meet all eligibility requirements.
  • Cross-sell bank services and products to mortgage customers where appropriate.
  • Assist with construction draw processing and disbursement when needed.
  • Comply with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to company service standards and perform other duties related to the Mortgage Department as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • General knowledge of mortgage loan products and the residential lending process.
  • Proficiency with loan origination systems, including Calyx and Jack Henry/Silverlake or similar platforms.
  • Relevant computer skills with the ability to navigate multiple systems and manage electronic loan files.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial documents and data.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to manage a pipeline of active loan files.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with borrowers, realtors, attorneys, and internal teams.

Preferred

  • Prior experience processing conventional, FHA, VA, or USDA loan products.
  • Familiarity with secondary market guidelines and investor delivery requirements.
  • Experience coordinating with title companies and closing attorneys.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements including TRID, RESPA, and BSA compliance.
