Description: BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Performs general clean up and maintenance of grounds, rooftop gardens and parking garages. Provides support to technicians. Ensures company vehicles are maintained and makes urgent part runs for the Engineering department.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED

Degree: General

License/Certification Required: Current TN Drivers License

Minimum Work Experience: Related experience required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs tasks necessary to ensure a safe, clean, and pleasant environment for facility customers and personnel.
  • Recommends and initiates improvements in ground and building appearance.
  • Ensures that sidewalks and driveways are free of debris and unobstructed on a daily basis and as needed.
  • Empties outdoor and parking garage waste receptacles
  • Operates facility-owned Engineering vehicles following all Federal, State, Local, and Hospital laws and regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that Engineering Department vehicles are properly maintained and inspected according to departmental policies and the computerized maintenance program.
  • Prepares holes and trenches as instructed for installing posts, conduits, etc. as needed.
  • Ensures aesthetic maintenance of facility property.
  • ⚬ Plants; weeds; cultivates, and spreads mulch in landscaped areas. ⚬ Trims and prunes shrubbery and trees. ⚬ Pressure washes sidewalks, patios, entrance ways, retaining walls, parking garages and stairwells. ⚬ Seasonal preparation of irrigation systems.
  • Ensures safety in public areas during inclement weather by spreading sand and salt using appropriate equipment.
  • Assists engineering department personnel as assigned by supervisor.
  • Performs support to engineering staff with zone coverage, painting and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Responds to all facility emergency codes in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Coordinates and performs part and supply runs related to engineering projects and repairs.
  • Coordinates the transportation of engineering and construction items to and from off-site storage to the hospital or off-campus locations.
  • Fosters mature professional relationships with fellow employees in a courteous, friendly, manner as measured by management observation and peer input.
  • Willingly accepts any other assignment that may be requested.
  • Maintains tools, equipment, and work area in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
  • Utilizes hospital resources and time respectfully and accountably.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Note: Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling is required up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20-30 lbs frequently, and 10lbs constantly to move objects of up to 150 lbs. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving of up to 150 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting squatting, reaching, and standing are required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
