Job Summary: The Mechanical Engineer II will play a key technical role within the Application Engineering group, specializing in modeling, FEA, supporting noise and vibration control applications.
This position will include analytical modeling efforts, develop custom support and vibration isolation solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on analysis experience, practical design judgment, and the ability to work independently on complex engineering problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and detail pipe supports, restraints, anchors, and isolation systems for industrial and commercial piping systems.
- Conduct finite element analysis using SolidWorks Simulation as required for custom components and assemblies.
- Generate engineering calculations and analyses to support project development.
- Collaborate with sales, project management, manufacturing, and field teams to ensure practical, buildable solutions.
- Support Revit/BIM coordination efforts related to pipe supports and integration.
- Review project inputs, identify missing technical information, and define engineering scope.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Participate in continuous improvement of engineering tools, standards, and workflows.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and other departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Engineer or Engineering Manager.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, structural engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, structural frames, and/or product design role.
- Proficiency in Autodesk software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit), Excel, programming and automation.
- Strong understanding of structural loading (seismic, wind, thermal), anchor design and restraint behavior, and vibration isolation principles.
- Working knowledge of International Building Code, including ability to interpret related charts, tables, and compliance requirements.
- Advanced analytical problem solving, priority management, and technical communication skills.
- Strong ability to collaborate and communicate across engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams.
- Experience with structural and sheet metal manufacturing processes, including familiarity with welding, tolerances, finishes, and forming techniques.
- Knowledge of common hardware types and applications, including selection criteria and sourcing practices.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions.
