Salary Range: $35-$40 an hour
Travel: 3 trips per year estimated
Blacksea Technologies is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to work alongside our team of engineers on a variety of tasks related to design, integration, and testing of prototype systems in commercial and military machinery systems.
Our engineers work on electrical and electronic component systems for production and prototype machinery and vessels. Equipment used in these systems includes, but is not limited to:
- Electric motors (from fractional HP to > 100 hp) and motor controllers including servo systems and variable frequency drives
- Control systems comprised of micro-controllers, programmable logic controllers, and other digital controllers that are used with machinery and robotics
- Switches and sensors used to detect the motion of components
- Power supplies, battery chargers, and power conversion equipment
- CANbus and Ethernet equipment
- Communications equipment including mesh radios and SATCOM equipment
- Industrial electrical design and control systems
- Data acquisition and data logging equipment
- Computing equipment
- Hydraulic systems
- Conventional vessel hull, mechanical, and electrical components including propulsion and power distribution systems
Work efforts in this role will range from initial system power and data layout diagrams, component selection, power budgets, circuit protection design, computing and network layouts, iteration of these systems as the design evolves, guidance for technicians during system installation and debugging procedures, and proceed to system testing. Focus may range from system-level design to subsystem or component detailed design, depending on program needs. These efforts will be performed with guidance and mentoring by experienced Electrical Engineers.
Requirements:Required Skills
· U.S. Citizenship
· Bachelor’s or higher Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
· -0-3 years relevant experience
· -Hands-on experience with electromechanical systems
· -Experience sizing electrical and electronic components and wiring systems for small projects, including the creation of schematics and/or one-line diagrams
· -Experience working with test equipment to diagnose and experiment with circuits or systems
· -Knowledge of the challenges working with computing and digital networks in rugged environments
· -Ability to work in cross-functional teams on fabrication, assembly, and testing of hardware.
· -Good communications skills and organizational skills.
Desired Skills
· Experience with SolidWorks Electrical Schematic and/or SolidWorks Electrical 3D
· Experience with Altium Designer
· Experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools for configuration control
