Job Description
Job Summary: Supervises all nurse functions in the Rural Health Clinics and specialty clinics. Has overall responsibility for RHC survey preparation as well as Joint Commission survey preparation of clinic facilities, including infection prevention, employee and provider education re: standards, documentation, policies and etc. Is able to assist physicians and providers with patient flow and documentation issues. Provides care and supervision that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility within the scope of practice for a LPN/RN under the supervision of a Physician/APRN.
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
· Functions as Clinic Nurse Supervisor in areas of hiring, orientation and training of new nurses to the clinics.
· Organizes annual clinic nurse skills fair for required nursing competencies.
· Is responsible to make sure the nursing function is staffed in all situations, when staff have planned or unplanned absences.
· Documents staff and personal performance in SEM.
· Ongoing monitoring of staff performance and works closely with PPC and HR in areas of progressive discipline.
· Completes annual SEM reviews on all clinic nursing staff with physician input.
· Serves as nursing liaison in dealing with physicians and any problems that may arise within the clinic in the area of nurse duties/functions, as well as charting, work load and referral auditing.
· Fills in as needed for nurse vacancy when staffing in clinic necessitates.
· Performs nursing care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for the patient’s age.
· Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and patient’s clinical condition. Medications are administered upon physician order.
· Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians and coworkers.
· Consults other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
· Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of the physician.
· Completes chart documentation completely in the electronic medical record.
· Ensures maintenance to nurse workload and referrals in electronic medical record.
· Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.
· Maintains a good working relationship both within the clinics and with other hospital departments.
· Acts as a liaison between clinics and centralized scheduling and OR as issues arise.
· Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements (i.e. RHC standards, Medicare, Medicaid, managed care contract requirements, authorization/referrals, etc.) by rounding.
· Demonstrates ability to be flexible and organized; demonstrates ability to function well under stressful situations.
· Displays courtesy and caring attitude toward patients and visitors.
· Service recovery with patient complaints.
· Ensures proof of nursing competency.

Education/Regulatory Requirements & Experience:
· Current LPN/RN licensure in the State of Oklahoma required.
· Previous work history that demonstrates steady attendance and punctuality is required.
· Previous work history in a physician’s office required.
Language Skills:
· Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Additional languages preferred.
Skills:
· Efficient electronic medical record and computer knowledge
