About This Position

Psychotherapist Adolescent

Under the direction of the Director of Inpatient Behavioral Health Programs and the Psychiatric Social Work Manager, the Adolescent Psychotherapist works within an interdisciplinary team to provide professional counseling services for the adolescent psychiatric inpatients at Valleywise Behavioral Health Inpatient facilities.
Hourly Pay Rate: $34.15 - $50.37
Qualifications
Education:
  • Requires a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy.
Experience:
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience providing mental health psychotherapy in a behavioral health setting that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills and abilities for the adolescent population and this high level of care.
  • Strong preference given to those with inpatient behavioral health experience.
Specialized Training:
  • Prefer specialized training in various therapeutic approaches such as CBT, DBT, and Trauma Informed Therapy. Also prefer training in chemical dependency assessment and treatment.
Certification/Licensure:
  • Must maintain an independent license by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners by holding one of the following certifications:
    • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
    • Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC)
    • Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT)
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
    • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • CPI certification and BLS Card training will be provided upon hire/transfer to BH department.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Requires knowledge of mental health and chemical dependency including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Requires the ability to facilitate group-counseling sessions and the ability to develop a therapeutic rapport with a dually diagnosed population.
  • Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English, including professional level usage of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Requires awareness and sensitivity to cultural diversity.
  • Requires therapist to be a self-starter and able to work independently, as well as work effectively with a multidisciplinary team including adolescents, families and community partners.
  • Requires time management skills, flexibility and positive customer service orientation.
  • Pursuant to Arizona Administrative Code R9-10-306 CHAPTER 10 of the Dept. of Health Services, personnel must be at least 21 years of age, or at least 18 years of age and licensed or certified under A.R.S. Title 32, and providing services within the personnel member’s scope of practice.
