Summary:

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized Tribe with its ancestral homeland located in Niobrara, NE. The Tribe does not have a reservation in the classic definition; rather, the Ponca Restoration Act defined its jurisdiction as a ‘Service Delivery Area’ comprised of 15 counties throughout parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Within its Service Delivery Area, the Tribe offers a broad range of health, social, educational, and cultural services.

The primary purpose of this position is scheduling appointments utilizing the EHR Software and to serve as backup for patient registration. Provides patient centered care while interacting with Patients.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Schedule and maintain daily provider/ patient appointments schedules for all providers, based on established scheduling guidelines.
  2. Monitor all incoming calls for medical appointments and medical emergencies and respond accordingly.
  3. Confirm all registration information with patients, enter updates and verify all data necessary for patient registration.
  4. Provides timely feedback to Supervisor/Health Administration staff regarding any disruptions in services or quality of care.
  5. Print out various reports utilizing EHR, which, includes but is not limited to the scheduling package, registration reports, 3rd party coverage information, etc.
  6. Provide general clerical office support and assists where necessary to ensure an orderly flow of patient care.
  7. Enforce all patient confidentiality, HIPAA and privacy regulations.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Relationships and Authority:

This position has no supervisory duties. The Director of Business Services has supervisory authority with this position in relation to personnel issues.

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

This position is located within an outpatient medical clinical setting. Work throughout the clinic area. Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during work hours. Is subject to emotionally upset patients, family members, personnel, and hostile visitors.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

High school diploma or GED.

One year of office experience.

One year of experience in an outpatient clinic.

Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Successfully pass drug and alcohol test testing, , education, character, and criminal background check

Able and willing to travel.

Preferred:

Associates degree in medical office administrative assistance or related field.

Valid driver’s license and be insurable.

One year of experience of medical office coordination.

One year of experience working with Native Americans or Native American organizations.

Preference will be given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of a federally recognized tribe. However, all qualified individuals are eligible.
