Senior Software Engineer- (Agentic Commerce & Automation)

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer – Agentic Commerce & Automation in United States.

This role sits at the core of a modern agentic commerce platform, where backend engineering meets intelligent automation and large-scale integrations. You will help design and evolve the services that connect merchants, ecommerce platforms, and external partners into a unified, scalable ecosystem. The position focuses on building robust APIs, integration layers, and backend systems that power high-volume commerce workflows. You will work in a highly collaborative environment alongside product, data, and AI/ML teams to deliver reliable, extensible platform capabilities. The role also involves contributing to frontend and operational tools when needed, ensuring end-to-end system effectiveness. This is a high-impact engineering position where your work directly shapes platform scalability, reliability, and partner experience.

Accountabilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs that power merchant and partner integrations across the platform.
  • Develop and enhance integrations with ecommerce systems such as Shopify and other third-party commerce APIs at scale.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and high-performance code using Node.js and TypeScript for backend systems and services.
  • Contribute to frontend or admin interfaces in React to support internal operations and platform functionality.
  • Participate in system design discussions, including architecture decisions, trade-offs, and decomposition of complex work.
  • Improve platform reliability, observability, and performance across distributed systems and services.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering peers through code reviews, pairing, and technical knowledge sharing.
  • Produce and maintain clear technical documentation for APIs, systems, and engineering practices.

Requirements:

  • 4–6+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend or full-stack development roles.
  • Strong expertise in Node.js and TypeScript for building scalable server-side applications.
  • Proven experience building or maintaining ecommerce integrations, ideally including Shopify or similar platforms.
  • Solid understanding of RESTful and/or GraphQL API design and implementation.
  • Experience working with SQL databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL) and NoSQL systems such as MongoDB.
  • Strong knowledge of system design, distributed architecture, and service-oriented systems.
  • Familiarity with frontend frameworks such as React (integration-level experience is sufficient).
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs and working with external platform ecosystems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical decisions clearly within a team.
  • Comfort working in environments handling sensitive data or regulated systems is a plus.

Benefits:

  • Competitive base salary determined by experience, skills, and location.
  • Equity in the form of stock options.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan.
  • Flexible paid time off and company holidays.
  • Fully remote work within the United States.
  • Periodic company offsites and team gatherings.
  • Transparent and fair compensation philosophy aligned with role scope and impact.
