Position SummaryWe are seeking an immediate hire for a Class A Yard Switcher Driver to support yard operations and complete assigned local deliveries. This role requires strong safety awareness, attention to detail, and adherence to DOT and company standards.
Pay & Schedule- Hourly Rate: $20.00 – $22.00 (based on experience)
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Status: Full-time, hourly
- Move trailers in and out of designated parking and staging areas
- Safely maneuver trailers and equipment throughout the yard
- Open, close, secure, hook, and unhook trailer doors
- Use wheel chocks and other safety devices to secure trailers
- Complete assigned local deliveries
- Perform daily post-shift vehicle inspections and report damage or mechanical issues
- Maintain accurate vehicle logs and required DOT documentation
- Report maintenance or equipment issues immediately to management
- Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment
- Keep truck interior and exterior clean and presentable
- Follow accident and incident reporting procedures
- Comply with DOT regulations and company policies
- Obey traffic laws and follow established transportation procedures
- Read maps and follow written or verbal routing instructions
- Communicate delays, incidents, or traffic concerns via phone or two-way radio
- Represent the company professionally and maintain positive customer interactions
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to safely maneuver trailers in tight yard environments
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices
- Dependable, safety-focused, and detail-oriented
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb in and out of truck regularly
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull as required
- Ability to open and secure trailer doors and equipment
- Ability to perform repetitive motions
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Visual and physical ability to perform thorough vehicle inspections
